Yankee Rose has returned to racing in exceptional form this time and remains clear $1.50 favourite in 2016 Champagne Stakes betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Obscura ($8) and Prized Icon ($8.50).

Will Yankee Rose justify favouritism and win the 2016 Champagne Stakes or will one of her talented rivals find the line in the clear?

Yankee Rose ($1.50)

Yankee Rose is undoubtedly the class horse of the 2016 Champagne Stakes field, appears as though she will relish a mile and will carry only 54.5kgs in the feature race. Taking out a pair of minor Sydney sprints upon debuting to racing in spring, the All American filly resumed this time with a blistering performance for second in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) before posting a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) a fortnight ago. Yankee Rose will leave from the ideal barrier 4 and will be very hard to beat in the Champagne Stakes.

Prized Icon ($8.50)

Prized Icon has continued to improve through a competitive autumn campaign, is a proven performer over the distance and represents terrific value for money at current Champagne Stakes odds. Running third in the More Than Winning Plate (1000m) on January 23rd, the More Than Ready colt placed second behind Telperion in the Listed Lonhro Plate (1100m) before running third in the Group 3 Black Opal Stakes (1200m) on March 6th. Having since run second in the Group 3 The Schweppervescence (1400m) and won the Listed Fernhill Handicap (1600m), Glyn Schofield will take the ride on Prized Icon from barrier 7 this weekend.

El Sicario ($19)

Kiwi raider El Sicario is yet to contest a race in Australia, but has more than stamped himself as one to watch and will be given a great ride by notable hoop Kerrin McEvoy in the 2016 Champagne Stakes. Trialling well in the lead-up to his competitive debut, the Bullbars gelding placed a close second in the Retox Sports Bar Maiden (1200m) on March 16th before again finishing a close second in the Group 1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) on April 2nd.
