Yankee Rose has returned to racing in exceptional form this time and remains clear $1.40 favourite in 2016 Champagne Stakes betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Debuting to racing for a couple of strong wins in Sydney sprints in spring, Yankee Rose was given little hope of success in the major Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) first-up this time but mustered an impressive turn of foot to finish a close second behind Capitalist.

Jumping from the gates well in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) a fortnight ago, the All American filly was again dominant in the final straight to and recorded a comfortable maiden win at the highest level.

Allocated the ideal barrier 4, Yankee Rose will be very hard to beat in the Champagne Stakes with only 54.5kgs in tow and in-form hoop Jason Collett in the saddle.

Prized Icon is yet to herald much interest in 2016 Champagne Stakes betting markets but remains outright second-favourite for success at generous $7.50 odds.

Prized Icon has stamped himself as a potential star for up-and-coming trainer James Cummings and will undoubtedly relish the mile of the 2016 Champagne Stakes.

Resuming for third in the More Than Winning Plate (1000m) on January 23rd, Prized Icon made a competitive return to black type company when second in the Listed Lonhro Plate (1100m) on February 13th.

Progressing to third in the Group 3 Black Opal Stakes (1200m), the More Than Ready colt placed a close second to Attention in the Group 3 The Schweppervescence (1400m) before breaking through for a maiden win in the Listed Fernhill Handicap (1600m) last weekend.

Veteran hoop Glyn Schofield takes the ride on Prized Icon from the central barrier 7 in the 2016 Champagne Stakes.

Interestingly figuring as the only other runner currently available at 2016 Champagne Stakes odds of less-than $10, Obscura ($9.50) will leave from the rails draw with James McDonald in the saddle.

Trialling well in the lead-up to his competitive debut, Obscura ran a credible third in the Hillross Supernova Woonona Maiden (1200m) first-up before placing fifth in The Schweppervescence last time out.
