Snitzerland Wins 2012 Champagne Stakes – Race Results

October 2nd, 2012

Snitzerland has won the Group 3 Champagne Stakes at Moonee Valley racecourse last Friday September 28, 2012.

The three-year-old out-classed her opposition to win the 2012 Champagne Stakes by nearly two lengths ahead of Hoss Amor, who placed second, and Saturn Rock, who passed the post in third.

Snitzerland has now won five of her eight race starts and has earned more than $1.17 million in prize money during her career.

The Snitzel filly placed second behind Pierro in the Group 1 Golden Slipper during the autumn, before taking a winter spell.

She has now won all three of her race starts this spring and is nominated for the Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic and Manikato Stakes later in the carnival.

Snitzerland was paying odds of $1.40 to win the 2012 Champagne Stakes at bookmaker.com.au.

Trainer Gerald Ryan was over the moon with Snitzerland’s latest race win in the 2012 Champagne Stakes.

He compared her to star galloper Melito, who he also trained to a multitude of victories.

“I’d say she’s more precocious, more professional than Melito was at the same age,” Ryan said.

“But I can’t put her in front of Melito yet. She won Group One races against older horses, she was very special.

“But this filly has just as much potential.”
