Moonee Valley’s Champagne Stakes Final Field and Preview

September 23rd, 2010

As there is just a day to go before the jumping of Mooney Valley’s $150,000 Champagne Stakes, final preparations are being made. This includes the naming of the final field. Twelve emerging three-year-old fillies are preparing to contest the upcoming Group 3 event.

Solar Charged, trained by Randiwick based John O’Shea is leading the field as the clear favourite. The brown filly is listed at $2.70 odds at Sportsbet. The daughter of Charge Forward is coming into the Champagne Stakes off of two convincing second place finishes in the Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) and the San Domenic Stakes (1000m) to Parables and Obsequious respectively. The three-year-old filly will be jumping from barrier number two with jockey Nash Rawiller.

Military Rose is being touted as the biggest competition. The Cilian Heinrich-trained brown filly has been impressing both experts and enthusiasts with her recent training on the Moonee Valley track.

Punters shouldn’t discount the Michael Tubman-trained Chance Bye ($7.50). The daughter of Snitzel recently had a good run in the Silver Shadow Stakes, coming in third to Parables. She’s also showing fantastic spring form and favours left-handed galloping.

The 2010 Champagne Stakes will jump this Friday, September 24 at Moonee Valley. It will be one of four group races on the night’s card, which also includes the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) as the main event. Punters shouldn’t overlook the Group 3 JRA Cup (2040m) and the Group 2 Bill Stutt Stakes (1600m). You’ll find all of the odds on these races at Log in and check it out for your chance to pick up some hefty spring racing payouts.
